Communication inside the Couple
By: Susana S. Polanco
In order to have a true married love relationship it is essential to have a good communication, characterized by reciprocity, an empathic, understanding and a sensitive attitude, in other words, we have to be open to DIALOGUE and not monologues.
Technological advances have made it possible to have an efficient communication through mass media, however, regarding personal communication, human beings have gone backwards, we haven’t understood yet how important it is to establish a real and clear communication among people.
Human being is a social being by nature, therefore, he/she needs to establish lasting and healthy relationships with other individuals, specially within marriage and family since this institution is the basic cell of society, that is why it is so important to establish an adequate communication, because most marriage problems have their origin in a bad communication.
In order to achieve a real communication with others we must show an empathic, understanding and pleasant attitude, under equal terms, which means sensitivity towards the other respecting each other’s freedom.
The word communication means sharing, giving and participating, that is to say, learning to express our thoughts and emotions through words or actions towards other human being.
There have always been frictions among individuals because mankind have always suffered from a great difficulty to communicate with others, but success will depend on how efficient this communication is and the persistent determination that each one invests in achieving it.
DIALOGUE must always exist in a couple and not monologues so that both can open and be able to express their likes and dislikes, but above all to achieve a mutual understanding.
Communication must be reciprocal, that is, both must give and receive the same; it is important to remark that it is only possible when there exists true married love, because love is the main ingredient to establish healthy and lasting relationships.
